Dr. Sandra Nolan is a dedicated nursing professional, educator, and leader with over 30 years of diverse clinical and administrative experience. She earned her BSN from the University of Delaware, her MSN and a Master’s in Health Care Administration from Wilmington University, and her PhD in Nursing Education from the University of Phoenix. Her extensive nursing background spans medical-surgical nursing, step-down nursing, community and home healthcare, prison nursing in the public sector, hospice, and nursing education. She has held key leadership positions, including Assistant Nurse Manager and Health Service Administrator in the public sector. Dr. Nolan is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) through the National League of Nursing and a Board-Certified Advanced Holistic Nurse (AHN-BC).

Dr. Nolan has been an educator for over 25 years, teaching across pre-licensure and RN to BSN programs. She returned to her alma mater, the University of Delaware, in summer 2023 and was appointed Interim Director of Undergraduate Programs in fall 2023. Her research focuses on Compassion Fatigue and stress, particularly their impact on students and faculty in nursing education. She is deeply committed to supporting student nurses as they transition into the workforce.

A long-standing advocate for nursing excellence, Dr. Nolan has been a member of the Delaware Nurses Association for over 30 years, previously serving on the Board of Directors and chairing the Professional Development Committee. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Adult Correction Healthcare Review Committee for Prison Healthcare in the State of Delaware. She has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau since 2003 (UDEL Beta XI chapter) and is actively engaged in national nursing organizations. Dr. Nolan is the National Program Director for the American Holistic Nurses Association and a member of the National League of Nursing and the American Nurses Association.

Her unwavering commitment to professional development, nursing education, and holistic patient care reflects her dedication to advancing the nursing profession and fostering the next generation of compassionate, competent nurses.
