Dr. Hoch is currently serving as a Tenure-Track Assistant Professor within the School of Nursing. Dr. Hoch’s research focuses on biologic mechanisms of fatigue in adults with heart failure. Her work aims to enhance clinical outcomes through a better understanding of the biological underpinnings of fatigue and related symptoms. She is currently a visiting scholar with the School of Medicine at the University of Maryland, Baltimore where she is focusing her research on cellular bioenergetics.

Dr. Hoch earned her PhD in Nursing from the University of Maryland, Baltimore, in December 2021. She holds an MSN form the University of Delaware and is certified as an Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist. In her academic career at the University of Delaware she has taught a variety of courses across both undergraduate and graduate programs in nursing​. 

In recognition of her dedication to nursing education and research, Dr. Hoch has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Daisy Award for Extraordinary Nurse Educators and the Excellence in Teaching Award from the University of Delaware. She has also been nominated for several teaching excellence awards and received the Nursing Excellence recognition from the Delaware Nurses Association.

Dr. Hoch’s research aims to improve patient care by deepening the understanding of fatigue in adults with heart failure and identifying potential therapeutic strategies. She is also interested in exploring how fatigue affects daily living, including its impact on self-care abilities in adults with heart failure.
