The University of Delaware’s accreditation review is scheduled for this fall. The MPH in Epidemiology is a 42-credit graduate program that includes core courses shared across an interdisciplinary core as well as a required applied practice experience and integrative learning experience. Courses in epidemiologic methods and biostatistics are supplemented by courses in epidemiology content areas (e.g., cancer, disaster, public health surveillance) and public health electives from across the University of Delaware. The MPH program offers both 2-year and 3-year course plan options.
Applicants to the MPH in Epidemiology must submit an application and all required materials through SOPHAS – the Centralized Application Service for Public Health and the UD Supplemental Application. MPH applications submitted through the University of Delaware’s graduate application management system will not be reviewed unless a full application is completed in SOPHAS first.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related discipline with a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Resume, statement of purpose and 2 letters of recommendation.
For International Students: As an international student, you will complete the same application process as domestic students to be considered for admission into the MPH in Epidemiology graduate program. You can access the online application through the Apply Now page. The TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is required of all international applicants (unless your country of residency has English as an official language or you already have been issued a higher education degree earned from an institution in a country with English as an official language). Please refer to the Graduate College regarding requirements for any and all updates such as accepted test scores and accepted measures of language proficiency. The minimum requirements outlined by the Graduate College apply to the MPH in Epidemiology Program, there are no additional language proficiency requirements.
The Master of Public Health in Epidemiology is a participating program of the University of Delaware English Language Institute’s two conditional admissions options for international students:
- Conditional Admission Program (CAP) - The Graduate Conditional Admissions Program (Graduate CAP) provides international students acceptance into the program without the need to take the TOEFL exam or with scores below the Graduate College requirement. Students begin their MPH coursework after completing Graduate CAP at the University of Delaware’s English Language Institute (ELI).
- Graduate Pathways - Graduate Pathways is a one-semester preparation program for international students whose language proficiency approaches the Graduate College admission requirement (65-79 on the TOEFL iBT or 6.0 on the IELTS). Students will take classes in English for graduate studies plus one MPH course with language support from the English Language Institute (ELI).
UD also offers an MPH in Health Policy and Management, available through the Biden School of Public Policy and Administration. The two MPH tracks share 15 credits of core courses, but diverge in specialized coursework. Applicants to the MPH must apply to a specific track.
