We acknowledge and honor the individuality of our students, including in their learning styles, as we prepare them for a clinical career. For example, a Student Support Liaison works with students, advisors, instructors, and clinical educators to address students’ specific areas of challenge, often by identifying and building upon their strengths.

Your clinical practicum opportunities will include serving children and adults at our on-campus clinic with 100% supervision. Students provide assessment and treatment for patients demonstrating medical necessity. Services are provided in person and through telepractice.  Students complete clinical documentation every week and are supported to become more independent with time and knowledge!

Healthcare theater is a unique collaboration at UD where actors and actresses play the role of individuals in need of SLP and other healthcare services.  Challenging scenarios are created to provide students with opportunities to interact with patients and make clinical decisions.

This entry-level degree program provides students the necessary coursework and practicum experiences to apply for certification in speech-language pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Graduates are also eligible to apply for licensure as a speech-language pathologist in Delaware. The UD CSCD program is full-time and of two years duration, including two winter sessions and one summer session. Part-time matriculation is not permitted.
