Biography

Scott Duarte is an assistant professor at the University of Delaware's English Language Institute since August 2012. He is also the assistant director of academic programs. For the past six years, Scott has been working with academic track and foundation year students to increase their language skills alongside their soft skills of leadership, entrepreneurship and stewardship. He also has been the lead writing teacher for international students working on their Common App personal essays and supplemental writings and often takes groups of students to Puerto Rico for service-learning experiences. His focus is on developing students’ whole identity as well as their language skills. 

Prior to returning to the States in 2008, Scott taught in high schools and universities in Korea, Japan, Indonesia and Morocco and conducted teacher-training workshops in India and the Middle East through the State Department English Language Specialist program.
