Undergraduate Programs

The Bachelor of Music in Applied Music is designed to develop the highest level of proficiency in instrumental, keyboard, or vocal performance. The applied music program is designed to prepare students for careers as professional musicians.

The jazz program is meant to encourage students to develop opportunities across disciplines to engage in creative ideation and problem solving through creative sound production, and it utilizes faculty expertise in improvisation across genres and styles, including contemporary improvisational practices.

The Bachelor of Arts in Music is structured to provide broad coverage of music theory, music history/literature, and applied music combined with a liberal arts education applicable to a variety of career interests. 

The Bachelor of Music in Composition emphasizes instruction in musical composition, improvisation and multimedia creative activities. Many students in this major continue on to graduate studies in composition at well-known institutions with the goal of working in higher education or to compose vocationally.
