Biography
Dr. Brooke Johnson is Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Delaware. In addition to being Director of the 300+ member Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band, she is also the Co-Director of the Symphonic Band and instructor of the Marching Band Techniques course. She also oversees the administrative operations of the Basketball Pep Bands and provides additional pep bands for a variety of athletic events throughout the school year.
Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Delaware, Dr. Johnson was Assistant Professor of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at Miami University in Oxford, OH. She completed a Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Conducting at the University of Kansas, a Master of Music in Music Education and Conducting from Appalachian State University, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Delaware.
Dr. Johnson is an active guest conductor and adjudicator. She is a member of the College Band Directors National Association, the National Association for Music Education, the National Band Association, and the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society. She is an alumna of Newark High School and now resides in Newark with her husband, daughter, and their two rescue dogs.
