VOCAL ENSEMBLES
The University of Delaware Community Music School offers a dynamic music making program for all singers, grades 1 - 12. Our vocal ensembles can be performance-based extensions of the music education offered in schools or an outlet for those who just can't seem to sing enough! There are no auditions, and all levels are welcome.
In all three classes (Blue, Gold and a Capella), there is a strong focus on student creativity including music arranging. Although the primary focus is on singing, classes also include games and activities with movement, rhythm, and general music content.
Classes culminate in a final concert called, “Showcase"! Showcase is open to the public.
The UD School of Music also offers a choral opportunity for adult community members through their Schola Cantorum ensemble.
Enrollment is only confirmed, and thus a child’s spot in class is only reserved, after both registration AND payment are received. Registration and payment are 2-step processes. After registering, you will receive an email with a link to payment. Enrollment is confirmed in order that payments are received.
Blue Voices: Grades 1 - 3
In the Blue Voices, children explore their singing voices as they learn songs in a wide variety of genres and styles, experiment with simple harmonies, and develop their music literacy skills. They won't be sitting still, though ‐ they'll learn their music by playing games, moving, singing, and using hand-held instruments! They'll also explore their creative sides and compose original simple songs!

Singers further develop their vocal skills in a wide variety of genres such as pop, jazz, classical, contemporary, and more! Participants will experiment with complex harmonies as they hone their ability to learn music by ear and by reading musical notation. They'll even get to try their hand at both arranging their favorite songs and writing their own! Creativity and group collaboration are focal points of this ensemble.

HS a Cappella, Grades 9 - 12
Register for The Hentatonix, our high school a Capella group, and explore one of today's most popular vocal trends. Participants are often seen laughing together and cheering each other on as they write original lyrics to well-known songs, compose a brand-new song, or learn to beatbox! Our teachers bring an energy and passion for this unaccompanied genre that will inspire the singers to broaden their horizons, challenge their musical ear, and make new friends along the way!
