Through their Project Brain Light initiative, neuroscience graduate students in UD's Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences have helped make research accessible to a wider audience.

With donor support, UD's Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences makes a difference in the lives and education of our students as well as the community, focusing on the following priorities:

  • Creating transformative learning experiences for undergraduate and graduate students, using the latest techniques and tools in the classroom and laboratory.
  • Providing life-changing experiential learning outside the classroom, such as internships and research opportunities.
  • Supporting outreach initiatives through which students and faculty can share their knowledge and skills with the community. For example, our neuroscience graduate students organized Project Brain Light to help make research accessible to a wider audience — especially K–12 students.

UD's Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences is committed to creating a transformative learning experience for all undergraduate and graduate students. Our students engage with new ideas, develop technology skills, and work hands-on in laboratories. Your gift will aid our department in providing digital learning tools, accessibility, interactive classrooms, and laboratory-based learning that allows students to experience neuroscience and psychological science principles firsthand.

College students visit a functional magnetic resonance imaging lab to learn about brain imaging. They observe the professor, who uses desktop computer to operate the scanner, visible through a window in the adjacent room.

In research laboratories, the Psychological Services Training Center, and internships in the Delaware region, psychological and brain sciences students participate in knowledge discovery and translation. Our undergraduate and graduate students rely on this experiential learning outside of the classroom to enhance their skill sets and help them grow a network of professional connections, assets that promotes career readiness. Your gift will make a difference by providing critical support to help students access these life-changing opportunities.
