Biography

Evelyn Milburn, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in the Department of Psychological & Brain Sciences at the University of Delaware. She received her Ph.D. in cognitive psychology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017. She has since been a postdoctoral researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway, and an assistant adjunct professor at Mills College in Oakland, California.

Motivated by basic cognitive science, Milburn's research directly addresses complex real-life language-use situations such as language acquisition across the lifespan and language recovery in aphasia. At UD, Milburn primarily focuses on teaching. She specializes in teaching smaller classes that focus on sharpening students’ critical thinking skills and developing a close and collaborative relationship with students. Her teaching interests include cognitive psychology, psychology of language, and research methods.
