Biography

Theodore J. Davis, Jr. (Ph. D. Florida State University) is a professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at the University of Delaware. His academic interests include Black politics, racial justice and inequality, Black community development, and governance and development in Sub-Saharan Africa. He teaches courses in public policy, American government, racial justice, and the politics of the Black experience. In the past, he has taught courses in public administration, research methods, and African politics. Dr. Davis’ current research projects include 1) Black politics in post-civil rights America, 2) Black community development and capacity building, 3) the politics of racial disparities in educational outcomes (with a focus on Black males educational outcomes), and 4) public opinion, governance, and human development in sub-Saharan Africa. He is the author of Black Politics Today: The Era of Socioeconomic Transition (Routledge 2012). Dr. Davis is currently working on a book project titled Black Politics and the Politics of Deconstruction of Race. He has authored numerous research papers, blogs, commentaries, reports, and working papers.
