Giving to the Department of Mathematical Sciences

 

The Department of Mathematical Science has a four-fold mission:

  1. Do cutting-edge research in mathematics, applied mathematics, and mathematics education.
  2. Train the next generation of mathematician through our graduate programs.
  3. Prepare undergraduate students for a variety of careers in the mathematical sciences.
  4. Provide foundational and advanced instruction to the entire campus.


Gifts to the Department of Mathematical Sciences support a number of activities:

  • undergraduate research projects
  • graduate student research
  • student travel to conferences and workshops
  • technology for innovative teaching
  • faculty research
  • reimbursement of student actuarial exam fees

Unrestricted gifts will be used for these and related purposes.

If desired, you can designate your gift to one of the following accounts:

  • Baxter-Sloyer Award (recognizes outstanding teaching by PhD students)
  • William D. Clark Award (recognizes one or more outstanding graduating majors)
  • Graduate Enrichment Account (supports activities by graduate students)
  • Hallenbeck Memorial Account (specifically supports the internal seminar run by and
    for graduate students)
  • Wenbo Li Memorial Account (funds a prize for outstanding research by a PhD student)
