Program Costs | This year’s program fee is $3,115 and includes housing with three meals per day; international health insurance; excursions to places such as the Alhambra, the Cathedral, and the Royal Chapel, as well as day trips to medieval cities of Cordoba and Seville.; UD course, instruction and on-site program management; and pre-departure orientation and materials. Not included: Airfare to Spain ($1,600), local transportation, and UD tuition and fees ($3,648 for residents and $9,798 for non-residents based on current year). Courses | All students will enroll in either SPAN 308 or SPAN 325 SPAN 206 - (3 credits) Culture Through Conversation Discussion of topics drawn from contemporary Spanish or Latin American life. For students who wish to broaden their knowledge of Hispanic culture while improving their oral and aural language skills. PREREQ: SPAN 107. RESTRICTIONS: Taught abroad only. Students who received credit in SPAN 205 are not eligible to take this course without permission. University Breadth: College of Engineering Breadth: EG BREADTH: COE Breadth Requirement SPAN 300 - (3 credits) Advanved Spanish Composition and Grammar 1 Second part of a thorough review and intensive practive, targeting structure, essential vocabulary, speaking, listening and extensive writing. PREREQ: SPAN 200 University Breadth: College of Engineering Breadth: EG BREADTH: COE Breadth Requirement SPAN 308 - (3 credits) Contemporary Spain II Discussion and study of issues related to contemporary cultural, political, and social developments in Spain, including its place in today’s European community. PREREQ: Any two 200-level Spanish courses taught in the Spanish language. RESTRICTIONS: Taught abroad and in Spanish. University Breadth: College of Engineering Breadth: EG BREADTH: COE Breadth Requirement SPAN 325 - (3 credits) Spanish Cultures and Civilization This course explores the cultures of Spain and provides students with an understanding of its geography, history, politics, people, festivals and pastimes, art, architecture, literature, media and other important areas. Through readings, presentations, and class discussion, students will gain insight into the traditions that characterize Spain, its diverse people, and its history. PREREQ: One SPAN 2xx course University Breadth: Group B UNIV 370-049 Granda, Spain SPAN (0 credits, pass/fail) Students are asked to reflect upon changes in their knowledge, skills, and attitudes that occur due to their study abroad experience. |

Scheduled Activities (subject to change)
Enjoy two educational day trips to discover and learn about the cities of Cordoba and Seville. Through guided tours, emblematic places and gymkhanas you will learn more about Spanish culture in total immersion using the language.
For one day, attend a high school to be with a teacher and get involved in the dynamics. You will collaborate with a teacher and work with the students, learning how the educational system works in Spain.
Take a Spanish cooking workshop and learn to prepare typical dishes of the culture while using the language. Take another workshop to learn the basic steps of the most popular dance in Spain — flamenco.
