Biography

Lillyrose Veneziano Broccia is a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she was raised bilingual in a Sicilian and English speaking home. She attended Community College of Philadelphia, earning her BA in Italian and French from Temple University in Philadelphia, her MA in Italian Language at Middlebury College in Vermont and Florence, Italy, and her PhD in Italian from Columbia University in the City of New York. She has taught all levels of Italian Language, in addition to content such as Professional Purposes, Cinema, History and Literature courses, in both Italian and English, in face-to-face as well as online and blended classes. She has also taught various levels of ESL.  She regularly takes part in and offers Language and Culture Educator Professional Development.  

Her research interests include Language and Culture Teaching Pedagogy and Second Language Development, Italian Renaissance Poetry, Italian Literature, Cinema and Media Studies.

She has published several translations and an original piece of poetic prose.  Her publications focus on Language and Culture Teaching Pedagogy and Second Language Development.

She regularly presents at conferences such as ACTFL, MLA, SaMLA, NeMLA, AATI, AAIS, AISLLI, and NEALLT.
