Biography

Ali Alalou is an associate professor of French and Applied Linguistics. Professor Alalou teaches courses in French language, French linguisticsa and pedagogy. He has taught Arabic language and culture at UD in the past. Professor Alalou's areas of interest also include Afro-asiatic linguistics (particularly Tamazight also known as Berber), and North African sociolinguistics and language planning. He is the co-author of the award-winning children's book The Butter Man. He has served as the sequence supervisor for the French program as well as the coordinator of the World Language Education. Professor Alalou is the French credit evaluator for French and less commonly taught languages in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures.

Professor Alalou is presently finishing a book project titled: Morocco's Linguistic Landscape: Language Policy and Planning in Context. The book is under contract with Lexington Books, an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield. (Forthcoming)
