Biography

​Christine Leigh Heyrman specializes in early American social and cultural history. She received her B.A. from Macalester College in 1971 and her Ph.D. from Yale in 1977. Her publications include Commerce and Culture: The Maritime Communities of Colonial Massachusetts, 1690-1750; Southern Cross: The Beginnings of the Bible Belt; American Apostles, and most recently, Doomed Romance: A Story of Broken Hearts, Lost Souls, and Sexual Tumult in Nineteenth Century America.
