Biography

​​​Bonnie Lewis studies social studies curriculum and instruction, focusing specifically on inquiry-based approaches to designing and delivering social studies curriculum. Her most recent work looked at how teachers used inquiry-based instruction to teach contentious social studies in charged classrooms. She is interested in the College, Career, and Civic (C3) Life Framework and the Inquiry Design Model and does work around helping in-service and pre-service teachers understand and implement inquiry-based curriculums. Professor Lewis helps coordinate the History/Social Studies Education program at UD.

She received a BA in History and an M.Ed in Secondary Social Studies Education from the University of Kentucky before teaching high school social studies for four years. In 2023 she earned her Ph.D. in Social Studies Curriculum & Instruction, also from UK.​
