Blue Hen Careers powered by Handshake is a database of hundreds of internships and jobs — including full-time, part-time, volunteer, and summer jobs — posted specifically for UD students and alum.
Although an internship is not a course requirement, we strongly encourage students to complete an internship before they graduate. In fact, approximately 90% of our undergraduate students participate in an internship experience while they attend the University of Delaware. Many companies recruit directly from the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies because of the strong curriculum, industry reputation and the caliber of students that emerge from our programs.

Job Title: Influencer Marketing Team Intern
This summer I had the privilege of interning at QVC on their Influencer Marketing Team. Throughout my internship I was able to gain industry experience and expand my knowledge of the influencer space. My team has allowed me to have hands-on experience working with influencers and influencer agencies and learning everything that goes into an influencer strategy to build a brand. I was also able to go into our QVC Studio Park Headquarters multiple times a month, and it was amazing to see all the behind the scenes details that go into broadcasting our shows.
I also had the opportunity to work with a group of talented interns to create a pitch deck for a new partnership proposal and present it to senior leadership. Our group created a new proprietary brand within the beauty category and won first place! I was able to leverage a lot of what I learned in my marketing classes about branding, segmentation, personas etc.
This internship has allowed me to grow personally and professionally. I have used what I have learned in my classes and applied them to real world business situations and have become more confident when it comes to making decisions in business. I have also learned how to adapt to the rapid pace of change that can occur on a daily basis in the business world and also understand the importance of clear, concise and detailed communication when working in a cross functional, matrixed organization where there are interdependencies across departments. I am so thankful for this internship and how it has helped me to get closer to my graduation goals of working in marketing or PR.
I was also quite excited when I was asked to stay on with QVC past my summer internship and continue to work part time during the fall semester. I have loved this internship and the great people I get to work with at QVC.

Job Title: Accessories Direct International Intern
This summer, I was fortunate enough to intern with Accessories Direct International. I worked within their showroom, which gave me insight behind-the-scenes of their multiple brands. Specifically, I worked alongside other interns to create and maintain an organized and aesthetically pleasing showroom. This ensured the showroom accurately represented the brands when clients came in. I also had the opportunity to be involved in the creation of their fall campaign. I prepped for the fall photoshoot, sourcing garments within budget and styling outfits. I also worked with the models and photographer to bring the photoshoot to life. This was by far my favorite part of the internship and what I felt I learned the most.

Job Title: Private Label Intern
This summer I had the opportunity to work for South Moon Under in Annapolis, Maryland, at their headquarters as a private label intern. I got the chance to work alongside the private label team in developing both of their private label brands. This experience included communicating with vendors and developing styles for the upcoming year as well as collaborating with buyers on what white space private label could provide for each category.
My experience with South Moon Under was unique in the way that I was able to collaborate with multiple teams including private label and buyers, as well as the marketing team. Being a part of a group of people who work so closely together was very rewarding when it came to working toward a common goal. The teams I worked with were all very supportive of me trying to find out what direction I wanted to take after graduation and showing me all sides of the business. The hands-on experience I gained over the summer has been invaluable to me as it adequately supplemented my prior knowledge that I have gained while being a student at the University of Delaware.

Job Title: LDP Merchandising Intern
This summer, I was able to participate in the Abercrombie & Fitch Co. Leadership Development Program in Columbus, Ohio. For the first two weeks we were in training with all the interns and learned about what the company was all about and all the information we would need to start. After that, I was placed in the Abercrombie Kids brand on Boy's Swim and Outerwear Merchandising.
As an intern I was looking at the sales of our current items and understanding why certain items were selling the way they were. I also was very involved with the final processes of the next summer's swim collection, choosing colors, patterns and looking at a whole assortment view. I learned so much about presentation skills and looking at a spreadsheet and translating that into a story. I was also able to present many times in front of brand or department leads for our intern group Case Study and my individual project presentation.
This internship really brought my learnings in class to life and gave me so much more understanding of the industry, which I am excited to bring back to my classes this fall. I highly recommend any fellow UD students to apply to one of their many internship opportunities.
