Biography

Dr. Jessica Edwards, of Mississippi, is an Associate Professor of English at University of Delaware (UD). She has held several positions, including being an English Internship Coordinator and an Academic Co-Director for the Mandela Washington Fellows Leadership in Civic Engagement program. She’s an editor as well, most recently advising projects like the first-year composition reader, Black in America: A Broadview Topics Reader in 2024. She’s a 2020 recipient of an Excellence in Teaching Award at UD as well as a winner of the 2024 CCCC Technical and Scientific Communication Award in the category of Best Article Reporting Historical Research or Textual Studies in Technical and Scientific Communication for “Black Women Imagining and Realizing Liberated Futures” in Volume 31 Issue 3 of Technical Communication Quarterly with colleague, Dr. Josie Walwema. Dr. Edwards earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, her Master of Arts in English Literature as well as her Doctorate in English with concentrations in Rhetoric and Composition from Washington State University in Pullman, WA.
