Biography

Alex McKee received his B.A. from Vassar College and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has presented his work at a range of venues, including the Modernist Studies Association (MSA) Conference, the Modern Language Association (MLA) Annual Convention, the International Association for the Study of Irish Literatures (IASIL) Conference, the American Conference for Irish Studies (ACIS) National Conference, and the American Comparative Literature Association (ACLA) Conference. He has published essays on Samuel Beckett, Peter Greenaway, and Billy Roche, among others. Professor McKee's current book project, Self-Portrait in a Cracked Looking Glass: The Autographical Impulse in Postcolonial Irish Literature, focuses particularly upon the autobiographical Künstlerroman in twentieth-century Irish literature. His research and teaching interests include Anglo-Irish literature, autobiography and life writing, modernism and postmodernism, and postcolonial literature and theory.
