Facilities Overview

resides in a two-story atrium of Brown Laboratory with a lab space of 4650 square feet, houses six state-of-the-art NMR spectrometers with operating proton frequency ranging from 400 MHz to 850 MHz, as well as one FT-ESR spectrometer. The NMR laboratory provides NMR services, teaching, and user training to the University community.

is located in the Lammot du Pont Laboratory and provides analyses for the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry as well as the entire university as a core facility of the Delaware Biotechnology Institute. We have a wide variety of instruments that provide capabilities in field desorption (FD), electrospray ionization (ESI), matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization (MALDI), chemical ionization (CI), liquid-injection field desorption ionization (LIFDI), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI), and electron ionization (EI) mass spectrometry. Numerous state-of-the art low-resolution and high-resolution GC-MS, LC-MS, MS-MS, and MALDI instruments are also available.

conducts characterizations by X-ray diffraction of small-molecule organic or inorganic single crystals submitted primarily by the Department. As an extension service, the facility also accepts sample submissions from other departments and from local, national, and international collaborators of academe and industry.

fabricates, modifies and repairs scientific apparatus / instruments. Services are made available to all departments on campus. Outside companies or research institutions are welcome to request assistance for their glassblowing needs. Consultation is also available on design, function and safety.

is a branch library of the University of Delaware Library and serves students, faculty and staff in Chemistry, Biochemistry and related disciplines. The Library provides a specialized collection of books, journals, and reference materials in chemistry, biochemistry, and related disciplines along with access to all electronic resources, e-journals, e-books and databases provided by the University of Delaware Library.

consists of a full-service shop that provides machining, assembly and fabrication services in support of research projects and instructional laboratories for students, staff and faculty working on University projects.
