University of Delaware Library - The University of Delaware Library has a comprehensive research collection with over 2.8 million volumes and possesses an excellent Special Collections department, including the George M.A. Hanfmann Professional Library of Ancient Art, the Lloyd and Edith Havens Goodrich-Albert Pinkham Ryder Archive, and rare ephemera and publications on Italian Futurism.
The University of Delaware Library provides a research guide to Art History resources, including licensed databases which are available only to students, faculty, and staff at the University of Delaware.
The University of Delaware Library also provides access to Artstor on JSTOR. Artstor on JSTOR is a major database comprised of digital images and related data, and it provides the tools to make active use of those images. Artstor on JSTOR contains over 2 million digital images of visual material from different cultures and disciplines, and it seeks to offer sufficient breadth and depth to support a wide range of non-commercial educational and scholarly activities.
Visual Resources Center - The Visual Resources Center in 211 Old College offers instruction in the creation and use of images in teaching and research. The Visual Resources Center also administers a local collection of over 100,000 digital images of works of art, which are available exclusively to University of Delaware users in Artstor on JSTOR.
Special Collections and Museums - The Old College Gallery and the Mechanical Hall Gallery serve Art History's teaching needs by scheduling exhibitions that relate to courses and as a laboratory for the study of museum methods. The University Museums offer students the opportunity to work with and research original works of art and to gain experience and knowledge of conservation and exhibition techniques.
Winterthur Library - Winterthur Library, which specializes in American art and material culture, is open to graduate students in Art History.
Delaware Art Museum - The Delaware Art Museum has a comprehensive collection of American art and the Bancroft Collection of Pre-Raphaelite Art.
Students may easily take advantage of numerous major museums, libraries, and archives in Philadelphia (50 minutes), Baltimore (1 1/4 hours), Washington (2 hours), and New York (2 hours).
