Biography
Dr. Rosie Grayburn leads the Scientific Research and Analysis Laboratory at Winterthur Museum, where she directs object-based materials research for the museum and community partners. At WUDPAC she co-teaches analytical research methods and supervises student research. Her research interests focus on sustainable materials for conservation treatment (greener/safer solvents, coatings for metal), hazards in museum and library collections, preventive conservation and modern and contemporary art materials. She has a joint Ph.D in Physics and Analytical Chemistry from the University of Warwick (UK) and Universiteit Gent (Belgium). Prior to joining Winterthur in 2017 she was a postdoctoral fellow in Conservation Science at the Getty Conservation Institute in Los Angeles and a teaching fellow in technical art history at University College London.
