Celebrating our Accomplished Alumni
The University of Delaware's Department of Anthropology celebrates the diverse and inspiring careers of our alumni. Our graduates have ventured into various fields, making significant impacts in higher education, health care, nonprofit industries, and beyond, both within the United States and internationally.
Chelsea Rozanski graduated in May 2014 from the University of Delaware with a B.A. degree in anthropology, specializing in cultural anthropology, and minors in women & gender studies and African studies.
For her senior thesis, Rozanski was part of the Collaborative Cultural Mapping initiative in Peru, researching the Ese’eja of the Peruvian Amazon and their subsistence strategies, territory and cultural preservation. The three-week expedition in summer 2014 was the second trip to Peru for Rozanski, having traveled there for a winter study abroad to research the artisan cooperatives of indigenous communities.
The mapping expedition ”profoundly influenced” her plans to study and teach cultural anthropology. “The opportunity of being a part of this interdisciplinary collaborative effort was the richest personal and educational experience during my time at UD," said Rozanski. “I grew as an aspiring anthropologist, world traveler and advocate for environmental and indigenous rights.”
After graduating from UD, she spent two years with the Peace Corps in Panama, serving as an environmental health extentionist, where she spearheaded potable water infrastructure initiatives. She is currently working on a Ph.D. degree in anthropology with the Department of Anthropology and Archaeology at the University of Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
