Economic Justice Summit
Economic Justice Summit
The Biden Institute and the Center for the Study and Prevention of Gender-Based Violence at the University of Delaware have partnered with the Delaware Coalition Against Domestic Violence to present a three-part webinar series dedicated to learning how economic justice is vital to preventing gender-based violence, creating safe communities and a healthy economy.
Participants will hear from national and local advocates and experts, and will join in the conversation to share ideas on ways to bring about economic justice through policies, practices and community connections.
Gender-based violence doesn’t just affect survivors and their families. Research estimates the economic costs of intimate partner violence at nearly $3.6 trillion at a population level and $3.1 trillion for sexual violence. Economic instability increases the likelihood that these forms of violence will occur and at the same time, makes it more difficult for victims to escape and heal from unhealthy situations.
The series consists of three workshops:
- What's the Connection? Intersections Between Economic Stability and Gender-Based Violence (October 15 from 12-1:30pm ET)
- Bridging the Gap: Safe and Supportive Workplace Practices (October 22 from 12-1:30pm ET)
- A Path Forward: Prevention and Corporate Success (October 29 from 12-1:30pm ET)
Please join us to learn more about how we can build a healthier economy through social responsibility. This critical work can help prevent sexual and domestic violence by creating healthy economies and communities, ensuring supportive workplaces, and working to remove barriers which prevent individuals from controlling their own destinies.
