Delaware students to compete in state Envirothon on April 27 at CANR webb farm

Each summer,  Delaware 4-H offers opportunities for youth to participate in coeducational day and overnight camping experiences.  Camps may be offered through state-wide enrollment or by specific county.

4-H Environmental Camp
June 7-9, 2024

This residential overnight experience allows campers to explore basic soil and environmental science curriculum through hands-on discovery. Getting your hands dirty, exploring the marshes, or looking for critters was never so much fun!  Campers will attend a variety of classes related to the environment taught by University of Delaware graduate students. Previous camp classes included topics such as, “Is River Water Safe to Drink? and “Digging Up the Dirt on Soil Microbes.” New classes are developed every year. Recreation time, such as swimming and kayaking, is included.

4-H STATE CAMP
JUNE 10-15 OR JUNE 17-22, 2024

The Delaware 4-H State Camp experience provides lasting memories and the chance to make lifelong friends. Surrounded by nature, campers can disconnect from technology and focus on developing healthy life skills. Campers are assigned to a people group for afternoon and campfire activities. Campers may only attend one session.

Week 1:  June 10, 10:30am thru  June 15, 10:00am
Week 2:  June 17, 10:30am thru  June 22, 10:00am 
Ages: 10-19 years (as of June 1, 2024) Limited to 100 campers in each session.
Location: Camp Barnes, Frankford, DE
Cost: $375

 4-H DAY CAMPS

Newark 4-H Day Camp – June 24-28, 2024

Kitchen Chemistry, Animal Science, Health and Wellness, Photography, STEM, and more.  These are some of the classes that campers may be able to select at our traditional 4-H Camp.  Guest speakers will visit and there will be opportunities for Outdoor Recreation. Campers will have an educational hands-on experience in a safe, fun-filled environment. The week will conclude with an exciting council circle where groups will show off their talents. Register your youngster to experience fun and active days on the beautiful grounds of the University of Delaware campus! Campers will provide their own lunch.  This camp will be limited to 50 campers.

Cloverbud Day Camp - June 24-28, 2024

During this exciting camp, campers rotate through 4-H mini-classes. Each day our campers will participate in hands-on activities related to topics including Healthy Living, Science, Technology, and Engineering (STEM), and citizenship! Guest speakers will visit and there will be opportunities for Outdoor Recreation. Campers will have an educational hands-on experience in a safe, fun-filled environment on the beautiful grounds of the University of Delaware. Campers will provide their own lunch.  This camp will be limited to 21 campers.

Ages: 5-7 years old (as of 1/1/2024). Limited to 21 campers.

Counselor-In-Training (CIT) Camp – June 24-28, 2024

CIT Camp runs in conjunction with Newark Day Camp. Teens 13 and older are encouraged to tackle hands-on leadership experiences. The counselor training program is designed to equip teens with the leadership skills to prepare them to serve as camp counselors in the future. This camp is for teens who are 13 years old by May 30. Training will involve camp counselor protocol, risk management, team building, camper safety, and problem-solving. Completion of this program is strongly encouraged for teens who wish to become a 4-H camp counselor for the 2025 summer camps. Campers will provide their own lunch.  This camp will be limited to 15 campers.

Kent County Day Camp — June 24-28, 2024

Includes a Traditional Camp and  Cloverbud Camp

Learning by Doing, Making New Friends, Playing Fun Games

Campers will participate in classes related to the three mission mandate areas of 4-H: Civic Engagement, Healthy Living, and Science. Activities include guest presenters, traditional people groups, singing camp songs, yells, and skits. The camp will provide drinks and T-shirts. Campers will need to bring their lunch daily. Space is limited, register early.

June 24-28, 2024, 9:00-4:00 PM Daily - no before or after care available
Ages: 5-11 years old (as of 1/1/2024).
Limited to 30 Traditional (age 8-11) and 20 Cloverbud (age 5-7)  campers.

Georgetown Day Camp — August 5-9, 2024

Youth ages 5-10 will have the opportunity to experience hands-on learning activities through classes and activities led by 4-H teen leaders. Activities in the past have included: Food preparation and Nutrition, Arts and Crafts, Science activities, outdoor recreation, daily educational workshops.
