Bio
Nate Bruce joined UD Cooperative Extension in January 2022 as a Farm Business Management Agent and is blessed with the opportunity. He earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental and Natural Resource Economics from West Virginia University, followed by a master's degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Tennessee Knoxville. Based out of the Carvel Research and Education Center in Sussex County, his primary focus is on farm management, financial management, production economics, agricultural marketing, agricultural policy, rural development and natural resource economics.
Although not originally from Delaware, Nate fell in love with the state while employed with Mountaire Farms as an intern. He left the Eastern Shore to pursue his master's degree with a desire to return if the opportunity presented itself. After finishing his master's degree, Nate served in the North Carolina Cooperative Extension system as a county agent for two years. After that, he worked for a small family ran tobacco company in Danville, Virginia, for three years, providing support for contract growers.
In his spare time, Nate is an avid outdoorsman, including hunting and fishing. He can often be found in the summer camping and hiking with his wife, daughter and dogs!
