Biography
Saeed Esfandi holds a foundational academic and professional background in urban planning, having earned both his master's and Ph.D. from the University of Tehran. He is currently enriching his expertise by pursuing a second Ph.D. in Energy and Environmental Policy at the University of Delaware, where he also serves as a Research Fellow at the Center for Energy and Environmental Policy (CEEP).
Prior to joining CEEP, Saeed worked as a research assistant at the University of Tehran and a researcher at the Tehran Urban Research and Planning Center. His research is driven by a commitment to energy and climate justice, focusing on innovative urban planning solutions that enhance energy resilience and efficiency. His areas of interest include smart cities, solar cities, and the development of net-zero energy and carbon-neutral districts through nature-based and technological solutions.
Saeed’s current doctoral research examines the transformative impact of smart city initiatives and solar energy on urban energy transition and climate action, emphasizing the crucial role of technology, urban planning, and policy and regulation in advancing smart cities towards sustainable, smart solar cities. His work is supported by a Doctoral Fellowship from the Foundation for Energy and Environment (FREE), New York, NY, USA.
