Biography
Isaiah Gangadeen is a PhD student and Research Assistant at the Biden School of Public Policy & Administration. He is also a lecturer in the Department of Economics at the University of Guyana, where he taught courses in Econometrics, Industrial Organization, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, and Innovation. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Guyana and a master’s degree in Development Economics from the University of Manchester.
Before transitioning to academia, Isaiah was an Economist at Guyana’s Ministry of Tourism, Industry, and Commerce within the Business Policy and Strategy Unit. He has experience in E-Commerce, Industrial Estates, Competitiveness, and Local Content projects. He was also an Economist at the Ministry of Finance, where he monitored the fiscal and budgetary operations of the Central Government.
Isaiah’s research interest is embedded in Development Economics, given his concern for strengthening developing countries' capabilities to steer their sustainable development paths. His research addresses Energy and Environmental Issues in the developing context to expand the literature on the priorities and solutions that developing countries require when balancing development and climate objectives. He is interested in the Small Island Development States and the Latin America and Caribbean region.
