William Lescas

Job Title: Deputy Policy Director, Delaware Senate, Democratic Caucus
Will Lescas (MPA '22) graduated from the University of Delaware in 2016 with an Hon. B.A. in International Relations. He then won a Fulbright Scholarship to Denmark. He received an M.S. in Political Science from Aarhus University in 2018 before enrolling at the University of Delaware’s Biden School to pursue a Master of Public Administration, which he received in 2022. While at the Biden School, Will served as a Legislative Fellow for the Senate Majority Caucus for the 2021 and 2022 legislative sessions, staffed the General Assembly’s Aging-in-Place Working Group in Fall 2021, and interned with the Centers for Disease Control’s Global Health Center’s Washington D.C. Office in the Summer 2021. These opportunities, particularly those at the Delaware Senate, created the perfect environment for Will to apply his extensive academic background in real-world settings. These experiences ultimately laid the foundation for his career in state government.
In his current role, Will Lescas serves as the Deputy Policy Director for the Delaware Senate’s Democratic Caucus. In this role, he supports senators at all phases of the legislative process by conducting research, assisting attorneys with bill drafting, engaging with stakeholders, and advising senators on legislative strategy. Will relies on the lessons learned and the relationships forged in the classroom and through experiential learning opportunities at the Biden School. He also seeks to use his international experience to bring new perspectives and develop novel solutions to Delawareans' pressing issues. His current policy portfolio includes energy and infrastructure, eldercare, medical debt, consumer protection, and government efficiency.
