Merritt Burke IV

Job Title: Town Manager, Town of Fenwick Island, Delaware
Merritt Burke IV (MPA '98) started his public administration career as an intern for Governor Carper in 1997, a Legislative Fellow for the Delaware House of Representatives in 1998 and a city intern for the City of Milford under Richard Carmean in 1998 and 1999. From there Mr. Burke worked in several professional fields including tourism, education, sales, traffic safety and residential real estate development before commencing public service work again as the Town Manager for the Town of Bridgeville in 2010.
Today Mr. Burke is employed by the Town of Fenwick Island as the third town manager since the Town adopted the council-manager form of governance in 2006. As the chief administration officer of a coastal resort community, Mr. Burke is in charge of the finances, public works, police and beach patrol. His professional interests include land use planning, budgeting, economic development and coastal resiliency.
Mr. Burke resides in Milton with his wife, Linda, and their four children and two dogs.
