Maxwell Lasher (‘19, B.A.) is a Management Analyst I for the State Council for Persons with Disabilities under Delaware's Department of Safety and Homeland Security. He has found his comprehensive educational background from the University of Delaware invaluable. With a Bachelor's in Public Policy from the University of Delaware, an Associate's in Exercise Science from Delaware Tech, and a Paralegal Certification from UD's Continuing Studies, he was well-prepared for the various challenges of his current role.

In his position, Maxwell works on a broad range of policies, leveraging the council's legislative mandate to submit comments on behalf of people with disabilities. His keen analysis reveals how a majority of regulations and bills from legislative halls and state agencies directly impact persons with disabilities in one form or another. His responsibilities include tracking pertinent legislation, managing databases, providing data analysis for various committees, and maintaining comprehensive statistics on the state's disabled population.

His professional journey began at UD, where multiple internships shaped his career trajectory. As a Summer Policy Fellow at the Disaster Research Center, an intern with a third-party administrator, and a non-profit grant writer, Smith developed a robust skill set that would prove crucial in his current role. His involvement with Delaware Diplomats as a Council member and participation in two study abroad programs further enriched his professional perspective.

The pinnacle of his academic experience was serving as a DC Policy Fellow during his last semester, spending spring in Washington, DC.
