Madison Cann (B.A. ’19) is a current Master’s of Public Policy candidate at the Harvard Kennedy School. After graduating from the Biden School, she worked in international development at the Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) based out of MIT. She gained invaluable hard skills in economics and administration at J-PAL and then decided to pursue a higher degree at Harvard to further her career. She hopes to pivot and work in domestic policy upon graduation, specifically at the state and local level.

At the Biden School, Madison utilized the curriculum to develop her understanding of the policy process and pursue her passion for social justice. Beyond simply the value of the incredible in-classroom learning, she believes some of her most meaningful moments came from one-on-one relationships with her professors and peers. While pursuing her Bachelor’s, she took numerous internships across sectors to explore various avenues for policy, such as with Senator Chris Coons, Planned Parenthood of Delaware, and Buccini/Pollin Group. While at University of Delaware, Madison also worked at the Writing Center and rowed for the Division I women’s team.
