Katelyn Andrews (Hosey)
Degree: 2016, MPA
Job Title: Director of Public Policy, LiveOn NY
Following her time at the University of Delaware, Katelyn Andrews (Hosey) (MPA '16, BA Public Policy '15, BS Human Development and Family Studies '15) immediately moved to New York City to begin working at LiveOn NY, a not-for-profit with a membership of more than 100 community-based organizations each working to make New York a better place to age. On any given day, she might find herself meeting with legislators to discuss the needs of older New Yorkers, analyzing a new government contract, holding a stakeholder meeting, or preparing a new communications campaign.
Whether learned in the classrooms of Graham Hall or experientially as a Legislative Fellow at the Delaware Division of Research, Andrews says the skills she now utilizes have been firmly rooted in her time at UD and continue to serve as a solid foundation for her professional development. More specifically, Andrews says her time working as a Research Fellow at IPA assisting with funding evaluations for Delaware’s Senior Centers has directly informed the trajectory toward her current role.
According to Andrews, it was as a Research Fellow that she first began to understand the complex and cost-effective system of supports for seniors that exists in communities. Today, Andrews adds that she’s able to build upon this knowledge through her role as an advocate for community-based programs that work tirelessly to support an older adult’s ability to age with dignity and respect.
