Jamie Forrest
Degree: 2020, MPA
Job Title: Project Manager, University of Delaware English Language Institute
From a young age, I knew that I wanted to work in the education field. After gaining experience from teaching, tutoring, and leading youth camps and sports, I found my way to education policy and program management.
The MPA program helped me to refine my skills and solidified that I was on the right path. During my time at the Biden School I worked as a Public Administration Fellow with the Institute for Public Administration. While working on the education policy team, I conducted research for the Department of Education and the State Board of Education on topics such as reduction of college remediation, teacher recruitment and retention, and dual enrollment programs. The work that impacted me the most, however, was leading College Application Month, a statewide effort to provide every Delaware high school senior with the opportunity to apply to college.
I have always been passionate about advocating for Delaware's students and ensuring they have the best opportunities. In my current role, I am working to improve outcomes for ESL students throughout the state through teacher certification and professional development.
My time at the Biden School instilled in me a deep passion for fighting for the best outcomes for all of Delaware’s students, and I know that will always stay with me!
