Job Title: Crisis Management Analyst, Goldman Sachs
Dan Henne (MPA, ’19) is a Crisis Management Analyst for Goldman Sachs, working at the Crisis Management Center in New York City. In this position, Dan anticipates and identifies events that could impact the firm and its operations worldwide. Given the nature of this work, every day is different. “I prefer to be on my toes and to be ready to respond to crises as they arise,” said Dan. “And this job definitely allows me to do that.”
While earning his MPA degree, Dan worked as a Public Administration Fellow with the Institute for Public Administration’s Conflict Resolution Program (CRP), an opportunity that proved extremely valuable for his current position. He gained experience in time management, being thorough, and maintaining a sense of professionalism. He learned customer service skills and tools to manage a diverse workload. Dan enhanced his skillset to produce efficient and valued work for his team.
Prior to earning his MPA, Dan worked as a traveling fraternity consultant launching new chapters across the county. He also assessed existing chapters and offered insight on how to improve their internal and external functions. “This position was extremely beneficial when it came to looking deep to find the roots of problems and figuring out exactly what steps needed to be done on an organizational level to remedy said issues,” Dan noted. Dan’s longtime job as a lifeguard taught him how to respond to emergencies and be ready for anything—life lessons he still uses today.
Dan enjoys time outdoors and being active. He loves the beach, his dog, and his family. Dan reflected, “I strive to appreciate the little things life has to offer.”
