Case History
The patient is a male who is 36 years-old.

Differential
    Neutrophils = 54%
    Eosinophils = 8%
    Lymphocytes = 24%
    Monocytes = 14%
    7 NRBCs/100 WBCs

    RBC Morphology
    3% sickle cells
    10% target cells
    2% spherocytes
    Marked Pappenheimer bodies
Questions
1. What is(are) the potential interfering substances occurring in the non-white blood cell area?
2. Examination of the peripheral blood smear indicated the presence of 7 NRBCs/100 WBCs. What is the corrected WBC count? Is it necessary to correct the WBC count?
3. The reticulocyte histogram indicated that verification of the 9.7% reticulocyte count was required.
A manual reticulocyte count indicated that the patient's reticulocyte count was 2.7%. What is(are)the
potential interfering factors that caused the elevated automated reticulocyte count and that would have to carefully be examined for when performing the manual reticulocyte count?
