ARTH217 – EARLY RENAISSANCE ART

Excursion to the National Gallery of Art, Washington DC

 

 

 

Date and time

·         October 14. We will leave from the Old College parking lot at 12:00 pm sharp. Please plan to be at the departure point 10-15 min. early.  The return trip will start at 4 pm (estimated arrival time to Newark 6 pm).

 

Cost

·         $15 round trip. To reserve your seat, add your name to the sign up sheet and submit your payment in advance. Your Teaching Assistant, Annie Counter, is in charge of the sign up sheet, and will be collecting the bus fare.

 

Itinerary

·         Upon arrival to the NGA, we will visit galleries 1 to 7, which contain important Early Renaissance pieces.  We will pay special attention to works by Fra Angelico and Filippo Lippi, Boticcelli, and Andrea del Castagno.

·         After this guided visit, you will have time to visit the museum on your own, to choose and observe the piece you are going to discuss in your research paper. 

·         We will gather at the 6th Street and Constitution Avenue entrance by 4 pm to start our return trip. Please be punctual.
