ARTH151 – Myth, Religion and Art

Take-Home Exams Format

·        Delivery and submission: The exam question is given on a Thursday class and the answer must be submitted in printed form by the following Tuesday at 4:45 pm at the latest. Email submissions will only be accepted from students who present a doctor’s note explaining a physical inability to attend class.

·        Format and extension: The answer should be structured as an essay, with a central argument and supporting evidence. The maximum extension of the essay is 3 pages (typed, double spaced, 11-point font minimum, and margins of 1” minimum). Graders will NOT read additional pages.

·        Coverage:  Exams are not cumulative; that is, the first exam only covers topic 2 and 3; the second exam, topics 4 and 5, the third exam, topics 6, 7 and 8.

·        Study images: If the question asks you to provide a set of examples, all of your examples should be taken from the lists of study images given in class, INCLUDING the images presented by your colleagues. Remember to state author, title and date for each example you use. The exam question may also require comparisons or discussions of specific images given in class, INCLUDING those presented by your colleagues.

·        Bibliography: Support your argument with ideas and specific references from your assigned readings or textbooks. You may add those references at the end of your exam in the form of endnotes following the Chicago Manual of Style. In all cases, add a list of bibliographic references at the end of your exam. Pages containing endnotes and/or bibliography do not count towards the 3-page limit stated above.
