This example shows group awareness. Members of a group, shown by a light gray bounding box, try to remain together while still traveling to a common destination. Adults are one color and children another. Each type of agent has different properties hopefully matching what we see in life. Children are less goal directed but still cohesive within their group, for instance. More realistic behaviors mean more reliable results as simulations get complex.
