Technology and Automation
This course will prepare school library media specialists to be the change agents who bring the skills, information, and instructional resources of the Internet to their schools.The course explores and evaluates automated programs for school library systems, including library administration programs and educational programs in a variety of formats. Evaluating programs, preparing for automation, incorporating programs into the library and school curriculum will be emphasized. Participation in an interactive on-line curriculum project and exploration of current issues in Internet use will be covered. Engagement in LISTSERVs to collaborate with librarians on a global basis will be required. In addition, planning and implementing staff development activities for use of the Internet will be covered.
