Check your mixed vial, and if it has a decent number of adults, transfer them to a food vial. If you tranferred adults last Thursday, remove them and count them.
Work on you individual project.
Last week you did some simple simulations, one repetition at a time, using a spreadsheet. Today you're going to use some webpages to do a variety of simulations, including some where you can simulate many replicates at once. The web pages don't work in Internet Explorer, so go to the Firefox web page and download Firefox. Then install it and start it up.
In Firefox, go to the first Evolvulator page. Starting there, work your way forward through the web pages. For each graph that allows you to set some numbers, try several different numbers until you understand the main point the page is trying to make.
I've tried to make Evolvulator self-explanatory. Work your way through all the pages. For each page, record what you tried on it, the results you saw, and the main point you think the page is trying to illustrate. Write down anything you like about each page, and anything in the graphs or text that could be improved.
You may work through the pages with your lab partner, or you may work on it individually if your partner is busy with flies. Your report on what you did with the web pages and your suggestions for improvement will be due on Tuesday, Nov. 10.
