The Gymnastics Club at the University of Delaware is a recreational club for anyone who wants to learn gymnastics or continue with their gymnastics training. We welcome any UD students, regardless of experience or skill level. No experience is necessary, there are no cuts or tryouts. We are not a competitive team.
Our practices are an open gym format, meaning members are free to work on whatever events or skills they wish. Practices are an hour and a half long. We usually stretch and warm up as a group for about fifteen minutes, then everyone is free to split up and work where they want.
We have a coach provided by the gym who will help new members who want to learn gymnastics and can provide a spotter when necessary. Nobody should be concerned about safety or have to do a skill they feel uncomfortable with on their own.
Many of our members are former gymnasts, some are former cheerleaders or dancers, some are 'backyard gymnasts', and still others have no experience at all. Some people use the club as a way to keep up their skills and stay in shape, while others use it to learn 'party tricks'.
