What Mary Didn’t Know

(Poor Mary)

I have a job, and it's a good one

I have a job, I can't complain

I don't need to go outside

It's not that I'm in hidin'

I just never took the time to smell the rose

When I'm done I will retire

Sit by a grey fire and warm my toes

Devoted myself to learning neuroscience

There isn't much left to do

People know my name

On TV they say it's a cryin' shame

What Mary doesn't know

What Mary doesn't know

The physical that I believe in

Is fundamental to the way I see things

Love my Vegemite

Got it down in black and white

What it tastes like to be in the Truman show

Don't think me contrary

It always makes me see red when they crow

What Mary doesn't know

What Mary doesn't know

(Poor Mary)

Maybe one day, I'll test what they say

And tear the walls away

Maybe one day, I'll test what they say

And tear the walls away

I have a job and it's a good one

But I have to take the chance to see the world...

...Here I am outside

Can’t believe my eyes

Everything was in disguise--incognito

Was it only how

The difference between then and now?

What Mary didn't know

What Mary didn't know

What Mary didn't know

What Mary didn't know

(Poor Mary)
