Conservation Biology is an applied science aimed at increasing our understanding of how to maintain biological diversity. Conservation Biology uses principles and experiences from the biological sciences, natural resource management, the social sciences, and economics to address current issues in biodiversity conservation.
This course addresses a full range of issues related to the conservation of biological diversity. The course consists mainly of lectures and in-class discussion intended to provide you with a broad experience in the field of conservation biology. I hope you will gain from the course a general understanding of the dilemmas we are now confronting regarding biodiversity conservation as well as a sense of the ways we can try to resolve them.
