After graduating from UD in biological sciences, Christopher Doty attended Jefferson Medical College, where he became increasingly interested in emergency medicine. He completed his residency in that field at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, N.Y., with its extraordinarily busy trauma center, and became chief resident. He now is director of the residency program at the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, academically affiliated with nearby Kings County Hospital, where he sees patients, trains residents, lectures and conducts research. In 2002, he started a combined residency program in emergency and internal medicine, which is the largest of its kind in the U.S. Doty recently won the American College of Emergency Physicians’ National Teaching Faculty Award.
