Today, various UDECU members attended a presentation given by a
group of students from UD's Leadership 404 class. The class project
involved selecting an organization at UD to help implement change.
This particular group chose UDECU as their organization to study.
One of the group members, Paige Sacher, played an important role
in the project. Her input was invaluable because she is a senior
member of UDECU, and acts not only as the Secretary, but as a Technician
for the organization as well.
The group, consisting
of seven students called themselves, the "Emergency Change
Unit," and began their presentation by finding a person in
need of medical attention at the front of the room. The patient
exclaimed, "Help me! My organization is structured from the
top, down! Somebody call the Emergency Change Unit!" The group
then began to describe some improvements that could be made to UDECU.
The compelling
presentation was not the only aspect of the Emergency Change Unit's
hard work. The group performed an Initial Assessment on
UDECU, including an online survey sent to the members of the organization,
a tour of UDECU's facility, presence at UDECU meetings, and interviews
of the members. The Emergency Change Unit broke the organization
down to its Skeletal System (the structure of UDECU), its
Internal Organs (how UDECU operates), the Brain
(the political aspect), and the Heart (the symbolic aspect).
Finally, the group came up with a Diagnosis for UDECU. Although
the group had difficulties finding problems in the organization,
they were able to provide several suggestions to better UDECU!
UDECU thanks the Emergency Change Unit for the incredible work they
did to better the organization!

The UDECU "Whackers" intramural volleyball team made it
through Round 1 of the intramural tournament today, after an amazing
2-1 victory! The Whackers dominated the first game, but were overcome
during the second game. During the third game, however, an amazing
rally brought the Whackers to victory, moving them into the next
round. Come cheer on the Whackers next Monday at 7:00PM!

Today, several UDECU members attended an in-house training led by
a UDECU alumnus! The topic of the training was EMS documentation.
It is very important for EMT's to constantly review and update their
skills, and this training is just one example of the many ways in
which UDECU members strive to provide excellent EMS.
