In the Gospel of St. Luke, Jesus tells the followers of John the Baptist to tell him “the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have good news brought to them." We, as disciples of Christ, have the responsibility to do these things and more, because as Jesus says, “truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me." In LCM, we believe that we are blessed with many gifts from God, and it is our duty and joy to help those who are in need.

Initiatives taken by LCM to do Service

• Peer Minister for Service
• Fellowship in Service the Hungry (FISH): student run grocery distribution program for approximately 75 families
• Participate in a tutoring program at the local congregation
• Basket Brigade: program to supply supplemental groceries to families in need around thanksgiving
• Habitat for Humanity
• Relay for Life: program to raise money for cancer research
• Have an non-perishable food offering every week at Tuesday worship
