Gospel Choir History



In the early 1980's, a group of students decided that there was a lack of Musical Spiritual Leadership on campus. These students came together to render gospel selections as a part of the Black Arts Festival in the Variety Show. They took this opportunity, not to showcase their beautiful singing voices, but to sing of the Love and Gospel of Jesus Christ. As the anointing of the Lord fell upon them that evening, the Lord spoke to each of their hearts and as a result, they formed the University of Delaware Gospel Ensemble. As the spirit of the Lord continued to move on them, support and membership increased and as a result, the University of Delaware Gospel Choir was formed. Since then, the University of Delaware Gospel Choir has traveled up and down the East Coast, enriching the lives of many, spreading the Love and Gospel of Jesus Christ through song.
