Each spring we participate in Ag Day hosted by the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. There are tons of fun and games for the community to participate in! We create a display that follows the theme of Ag Day and we have a bake sale. We have a great time as a group and love interacting with our community!
Each March the Delaware State FFA Association holds the State Convention. Our chapter sets up a display, we volunteer our time to help with the Career Development Events, and we sponsor the state scrapbook CDE. We love talking with the high schools and telling them about the University of Delaware and spending time with our fellow collegiate chapters.
In late October of each year, the National FFA Convention takes place. FFA chapters and members from around the nation gather for Career Development Events, amazing sessions, and powerful keynote speakers. Our chapter attends each year to promote the University, our chapter, and what it means to be in FFA!
Fall and spring activities night is a night where all the organizations at the university have the opportunity to showcase who they are and what they are all about. It is a great chance for all new students to see what organizations are offered here, and ask the representatives of the organizations any questions that they may have. Each organization brings some sort of display with them to have at their table. It is a really fun night!
Every year, on the last day of classes of the fall semester, we have our Holiday Party. We have a great time getting together, everybody brings food, and we play games and celebrate the end of the semester and the beginning of the Holiday Season.
During the fall semester of every year, we hold our biggest fund raiser as a chapter – fruit and poinsettia Sales. All of our profits from the fruit go towards our activities throughout the year and all of the proceeds from the poinsettias go towards our scholarship fund from which we give scholarships to deserving members each year. We have a great time sorting and delivering all of the fund raiser. There’s no better feeling than money in your pocket!
As a chapter, we try to do as many community service projects as possible. We visit Sunrise Assisted Living Community, participate in trail clean-up, Relay For Life, Ag Carnival, Canned Food Drives, as well as many independent projects. We always incorporate lots of fun in all of what we do!
Every fall the Ag College Council hosts the Ag Carnival. All of the organizations in the College of Ag form teams and participate in carnival-like games. There are games like ice cream stacking, hay bale toss, apple necking and many others. We all make shirts and show great team spirit! Every team is required to donate one item to an auction for agribility. It’s a great cause and we all have a ton of fun!!
